Evaluation of Sport England’s Management and Leadership Programme

Sport England’s Management and Leadership Programme (MLP) was delivered in Association with Cranfield University to two cohorts of senior managers from National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and partner organisations including the English Federation for Disability Sports, StreetGames and the County Sport Partnership Network (CSPN). CFE Research was commissioned to undertake an evaluation to determine the impact of the programme on participants’ continuing professional development. The project explored the extent to which participants had been able to put their learning into practice in their day-to-day roles and the impact this had had on their wider team and organisation and whether the programme had a direct positive influence on the sports and delivery partners, and senior leaders in terms of their Continuous Professional Development (CPD). The evaluation involved qualitative fieldwork with participants and their employers and wider stakeholders.

Alex Stutz

Alex works across CFE’s policy areas and brings knowledge of education, career guidance and skills. He is a mixed methods researcher and specialises in qualitative methods, including interviews, focus groups, and ethnographic observation. Alex has an extensive track record of systematic literature reviews and rapid evidence assessments, as well as experience of the practical application of the COM-B framework to gain behavioural insights. Before joining CFE Alex spent ten years as Head of Policy at the National Youth Agency, the leading youth work charity in England.
